I'm thinking about a robobrew. What's people's general feelings about them?
Do people think the extra cash for the pump is worth it?
Any info people have would be great
Thanks

I think they are a great kit for the price, the pump model is very handy, not 100% necessary but if you bought the one without the pump I'd guess you'd soon be buying an external pump to use with it and it can be cheaper that way although some like the convenience of it all in the one unit. There really is hardly any difference between the robobrew and the grainfather, the grainfather has a much nicer chiller and you can upgrade the controls on it but it costs a lot more. Cheers

Would you know ballpark what you would pay for a external pump??
And thanks for your feedback

Hey Geoff,

I got one this year around Easter, I absolutely love it, great piece of kit. I have done 6 brews on it now, all of which turned out really well.
Mine doesn't have the pump, I am considering getting an external, but for now I just draw some wort off into a jug and pour it back in the top a few times during the mash B)

Ivan

Umm I think Keg King ones are about $80 kegking.com.au/mkii-magnetic-drive-pump-25w.html then you'll need some silicone hose $10, probably some hose clamps $10 some nipple things to screw on to the pump $10 a flow control thing to slow the flow $5 Thats all estimates.

Or if you want a stainless head for the pump that'll be more too.

I am in exactly the same boat as debating to get the one with the pump or one without and then get an external pump. Are there any major pros or cons to either setup? Many thanks!

Brewing a familiar Dark Mild later today. (hint: Was the bastard tired? Or was he run over by a tire (tyre). No one really knows). One thing for sure. It will be a treat when done. Cheers!
