Some thing is wrong some where, obviously. I'd be looking at grain crush or water levels maybe both. see if what you put in the fermenter matches what you think.

LBS

When I BIAB I normally double crush.
What you said there with the numbers, I guess I dont get it.
I thought I put grain into beersmith, load your Robobrew profile and then it gives me the numbers I want to know like OG etc... What part am I missing?

Also doesn't the OG depend on things like mash temp and types of grains used?

It should do that, its been tested over and over again. By me and many others. Something is off somewhere. Somethings been accidentally changed or I dont know, hard for me to tell.

Are you using a refractometer? and cooling the sample?

Cooling sample and making calculated adjustment.
Yeah something is right. Will let you know if I ever figure it out.
When this type of thing happens I always think I must have got my measurements wrong when adding strike water. But it isn't that hard to measure 18L is it? :|

I think with the extra boil I got at least the OG close enough, but it was the longest boil Ive ever done.

Thanks for the help.

The Robobrew video I uploaded a week or so ago shows a brew with 18L and 14L. And the Video I'll upload in the next week will be the brew I did 18L and 16.8L

Watched your vid. Good stuff! I was making a pretty similar beer.
Cant stop thinking about what went wrong. Only thing I can come up with is I was boiling with the lid on for a while, I just dont know how long. Was struggling to get a roll on and read that you should put the lid on in that case. I thought that I was gonna have to do the entire boil with it on.
Later I decided to take it off.

Not sure how much having the lid on would affect evaporation?

I set it to 140, both elements on. Had a towel wrapped around it to for insulation.
Would only get to a rolling boil with lid on.

Oh well, you learn something every brew. The good things are the ones that dont cost you a batch.

Brewing a familiar Dark Mild later today. (hint: Was the bastard tired? Or was he run over by a tire (tyre). No one really knows). One thing for sure. It will be a treat when done. Cheers!
