Hey Mate, Yep that recipe looks ok. Not sure that a 90min boil is needed , a sixty min would be fine IMO.
1 oz for 60mins
1 oz @ 5mins left of boil
1 oz @ 0 mins

Not sure if you want to dry hop as well after 4 days of fermentation you add another oz of hops, Sticking with all Cascade is fine but I like to mix it up a bit, maybe Columbus or Chinook at 5min, and 0, then dry hop with 1 oz Chinook.

But what you have there will work fine!

Let us know how it goes! Cheerz Gash

If you want to go for a "traditional" Black IPA (Northwest Coast USA style), sub out the dark malts you have there and use a little dehusked Carafa 2 or 3. The idea of a Black IPA, originally, was to make a hoppy beer that had just a touch of roast character in the background.

Check out this for background on this style and recipe ideas:

That said, a lot of "Black IPA's" are very experimental with a lot of different things added. I've seen them done with chocolate malt, herbs, spices, rye, etc. The style has really deviated from the original concept. Brew what you want to brew, basically. For me, I prefer the original Black IPA. My local brewpub made one that was spot on to the original style, and I couldn't get enough!

Cheers,
Dan

hehehe I started collecting the empty bottles, ran out of room fast lol... started removing the labels and keeping them.. Have since stopped but I must say after drinking a great beer I always want to keep a token memory of it... A little piece of me dies every time I throw one of those bottles away lol

You guys should take up scrap-booking. Or better still when you find a great beer scan the label and post the details here in the forum - that way you can always find the information before you lose/forget it

I know Im good like that :p

Brewing a familiar Dark Mild later today. (hint: Was the bastard tired? Or was he run over by a tire (tyre). No one really knows). One thing for sure. It will be a treat when done. Cheers!
