Small batch using 35l brewzilla was created by ozdevil1
now i like the idea of these. its a bit like brew and try before going all out on a big batch

i have a 10 litre pot that could be used for sparging with at the moment as i have to wait for my 65l brewzilla to arrive

but my issues is would there be enough water to do a mash with without burning out the pump etc

i know i can do a biab with the pot or even with the brewzilla

what is the smallest batch you guys have done safely?

thanks in advanced

I just asked a mate that does them and he does them like this

2.7kg is about as much as I've used for 11 litres ... that was about 13.5 litres strike and 4 litres sparge

i guess its say you used 3kg grain, (2,7L water absorbed) might get 3L boil off (maybe more cause its smaller) so thats say 6L, and you might add a litre or two for just wastage, dead space.. that takes it too 7.5L so if you want a 12L batch you might use 19.L all up..
so he uses 13.5L for 2.7kg
So i'd try something like mashing with 14L and sparging with the 5 left over
you know if the mash ends more you can add another L and take it out of the sparge etc
Im not sure what your numbers will be but you'll have beer
I'm sure the wife will help ;) hahaha
Cheers mate!

no i havent as yet.

i will soon enough thou once a i get a few more dollars back under my belt as there is a few more things i need and that dam bride of mine is pulling the money chain tighter and tighter on me..

i am interested in the small batch brewing for the sake of doing a beer or style of beer i havent tried for the reason if i dont enjoy it i dont really want to make a bigger batch of it..

i think small batch brewing is a waste of time part from trying different styles to taste and think would i like to have in a 19l keg or bottle it..

and maybe suited to those who are not big drinkers , unfortunately when i get a taste of a beer i enjoy 4-5 and the rest lol.

and i am not sure i would want to ferment in the fermenters i have and probably best fermenting in demijohn or smaller fermenter then a 30l fermenter becuase of the head space

Yeah same here.

Really only interested in doing the small batch for experimenting so if I make something dodgy it’s not too much to get through.

I’ve only got 2 30l fermenters so would probably need a smaller one. I thought headspace might be an issue with oxidation.

Especially if dry hopping or adding fruit or something

i have 2 30l fermenters and 1 27l fermzilla

i think a 15l fermenter would be ok or a 20litre bucket would do the trick as well

i have been looking at the small batch brewing website smallbatchbrew.com.au/ and have been reading some posts from there members on facebook..

i am the same as you dont want to brew beer i may not like only to waste the batch or i could give my bad beer to the mother in law

i am not certain why people are really bothering to make it this as away of brewing

i would have to brew every day just to keep the demand up

but for experimenting this would be a perfect way

Brewing a familiar Dark Mild later today. (hint: Was the bastard tired? Or was he run over by a tire (tyre). No one really knows). One thing for sure. It will be a treat when done. Cheers!
