it gave me food for thought as the expression goes

but i must say i am glad i havent drained it to the gods as the it is mellowing out, yes the burnt taste is still there but i feel as the keg matures the beer is as well and the colour is changing with it....

i will be trying this brew again in a few weeks now that footy seasons over i'll have total concentration on brewing..

man love this brewing caper becuase ya can make mistakes but you can rectify on the next attempt

even the best beers can have their faults

well what do ya do before lunch have a couple of beers..

so i thought i would pour this xpa again

i tell you the longer it stretches out the beer is mellowing out bringinging new tastes

the burnt taste has almost gone but that might be my tastebuds as i had only just brushed my teeth

i can still taste the burntness in it, but is more tolerable

The beer colour is changing alot as well...

i will be rebrewing this one again hopefully in a couple off weeks time

That's great mate. Glad it is mellowing out a bit.

That was my issue with my pale. Hit it too early, now it taste really good after a bit more age on it.

Ok that keg is now gone to the gods

I am going to rebrew this one (hopefully with out any scorching or burnt tastes)

I have changed 1 of the malts from jw crystal to the crisp light crystal the reason i am doing this is becuase i want to purchase everything from the 1 supplier not like i did last time

i have pretty well kept the ingredient amounts the same as the last one that @gash designed

Hey mate, Malts look good, I would put 200g of wheat malt as well(but that's probably just me, i like it) The hops Ive never used but if its similar or the same as the original recipe then should be great.
When i mash its normally around 1 kg of malt to 3 kg of mash water which would be about 15 litres of mash water for 5 kg of malt. Then sparge with the remaining 17.9L
So your recipe looks fine but just double check your distribution of your water between mash and sparge water.
My system is very different to yours so..... Good luck cheers

hey all,

I'm a little concerned about my xpa clone

this was the 1st time using the tilt and i should have mucked around to understand it a bit more then messing with it during the fermentation

my beer started at 1.062 in the fermzilla on Sunday which was captured on my phone and i thought i am going to need my phone through the week for work as i drive interstate... So i fired up a tablet i had on monday around lunch time and started to read at 1.060

i get home from interstate tonight 20/10/2020) looked on my tablet that is reading the tilt its sitting on 1.000

anyway here is the report from the tilt so far

also a image of the chart

i had the fermzilla at 7.5 psi

Should i dry hop this tomorrow 21/10/2020?

Brewing a familiar Dark Mild later today. (hint: Was the bastard tired? Or was he run over by a tire (tyre). No one really knows). One thing for sure. It will be a treat when done. Cheers!
