It is gash m8 and thanks for all your help. I might stick on that foil insulation we talked about purely to take the dirty look off the outside and tidy it all up a bit. :woohoo: At least i know now if the seals go tits up i can get them handy enough, need to sort the pick up tube though as atm i only have the elbow in there and its still leaving a couple of litres, then again i must just leave well enough alone.

I dont use a pick up tube in my HLT, if anything I'd point the tube up so the water level can't get below the elements

You and me both m8, good point. Will do that later,i suppose since its only going to be the HLT there is no issue with it having deadspace?.Cheers B)

nah a bit of dead space in the HLT is no drama, especially since I fill it at the start of the day there is plenty of water for the brew, and the left over water can be used for cleaning at the end of the day. (or the next day when its been a loooonnnggg thirsty brew day lol)

Yep and i am thinking now that copper hop strainer for the back of the valve in the wort boiler is the way to go. BTW what the hell do Aussies call whatever they boil the wort in ?

Brewing a familiar Dark Mild later today. (hint: Was the bastard tired? Or was he run over by a tire (tyre). No one really knows). One thing for sure. It will be a treat when done. Cheers!
