This particular one only does either cooling or heating but not both at the same time, for some applications this can be used, such as a Hot Water Tank, HLT or keezer/kegerator, but if you were using it on a fermentation fridge to heat and cool it wouldn't work. The ones that do both are not much more expensive, only a dollar or two usually.

Are you in Oz? I picked one up for $25, I haven't wired it yet though, I plan on hooking it up to my bar fridge and temp controlling small batches.

-Davo does yours control high and low temp? if so, can you post the name and model number? There are a few good vids on YT for building a box that holds the controller and an outlet for the heating and cooling.

Gash, do you require a licensed electrician to wire it, or is that only if you are using a HLT?

Well if something went wrong and burnt your house down (extremely unlikely) I guess your insurance technically could be void. Saying that are these units even Australian certified? Officially it wouldn't have to be an electrician unless you go wiring directly into your power, but if you are really worried it might be an idea to get it tagged and tested once it was built.

The item is from an Australian supplier so I assume it is certfied, but I will get it tested and have it built by a certified electrician.

Brewing a familiar Dark Mild later today. (hint: Was the bastard tired? Or was he run over by a tire (tyre). No one really knows). One thing for sure. It will be a treat when done. Cheers!
