Fat Yakie was created by ozale
Fat Yak seems to be pretty popular at the moment so here's my "Ozale" version, hope you like it if you brew it.
1 can Coopers Pale Ale
1kg light dry malt (LDM)
250g dextrose
250g carapils or wheat (steeped)
15g ea Cascade and Nelson Sauvin @ 10min
15g Nelson Sauvin @ flame out
15g Cascade dry hopped @ day 3 or 4
US 05 yeast
Brew length 22 ltrs
OG = 1.049 FG = 1.010
Method
In a 10 ltr pot steep cracked grain (in a grain bag) in 1 ltr of 65-70C water for 30min
Lift bag and rinse grains with about 1 ltr of water at same temp.
Add a further 3 ltrs (total 5 ltrs)of water to the pot and 500g of LDM, bring this to the boil
Once rolling boil established start the hop additions (except dry hop addition)
At flame out add remaining LDM, pale ale can and dex, stir well to mix
Cool wort as quickly as possible to under 30C
Add to your FV and add water to brew length checking wort temp at about 19-20ltrs
Adjusting wort temp with hot or cold water for a pitching temp about 22-24C
Pitch yeast
When fermentation slows around day 3 or 4 add your dry hop of 15g Cascade to the wort in a hop bag or tied in a new chux cloth, I ferment this for a full 2 weeks in the FV @ 18C
My bulk priming rate for this is 175g dextrose or castor sugar, but you can bottle prime at the standard amount.
If bottling wait 2 weeks then crack one and enjoy

Yep, 10 minute boil is all I did. can't help you with the beersmith question but I'm sure Gash will answer that for you.

Yeah there is something weird going on there, because the IBUs in the ingredients list look about right, but down the bottom is out of control...hmm I'll chuck it into my beersmith later and see what happens

Brewing a familiar Dark Mild later today. (hint: Was the bastard tired? Or was he run over by a tire (tyre). No one really knows). One thing for sure. It will be a treat when done. Cheers!
