Cold crashing with spunding valve ?? was created by Deejay
Hi guys,
I'm about to cold crash the first brew in my new allrounder in a few days.
What do I do with the spunding valve? do I take it off or turn it off or just leave it on ?
does it matter what pressure it is at ?
cheers.

Just leave it on, try and have at least 10psi in it. Cheers!

Thanks Gash,
its sitting at about 8psi now awaiting a gravity sample tomorrow morning to confirm it is done, need to invest in a tilt I think.
Question on hop aroma - does the pressure ferment help push/mix the aroma into the beer ? the reason I ask is that when I went to dry hop both times I had to let a hell of a lot of co2 out obviously and felt that the hop aroma was going with it just like using and air lock.
cheers.

Cheers Gash,
loving the all rounder and being able to watch the action as it ferments.
I have always used fermenting buckets so no idea what it looked like going through the process.
Have 2 temperature controlled fridges now so might get another one. beer TV great viewing.
cheers.

pretty exciting as a newbie to pressure fermenting. Have a Harpoon Hazy in there, looking forward to the final product.
cheers

Im about to ferment a lager in my new allrounder too. Just on the spunding valve, do you connect a blow off hose to the other end of it through the ferment?
Had a few issues getting the allrounder to hold the pressure but I think Ive got it sorted now. See how it goes!

So I think Im going to throw the wort into the allrounder and pitch the yeast, think I will do this about 15 degrees and leave the spunding valve open. After 24 hours close the spunding valve to get the pressure to around 12 PSI and leave it at 15 degrees. Then maybe raise the temp after a couple more days. Im using the Lallemand Diamond Lager yeast, do you reckon this sounds right?

Brewing a familiar Dark Mild later today. (hint: Was the bastard tired? Or was he run over by a tire (tyre). No one really knows). One thing for sure. It will be a treat when done. Cheers!
