NO CHILL VERSION

Use grain percentages to suit your system
Beersmith Recipe - NO CHILL - beersmithrecipes.com/viewrecipe/2729998/...-pale-lager-no-chill
Beersmith Recipe - beersmithrecipes.com/viewrecipe/2730000/...its-czech-pale-lager

4kg / 8 lb 13 oz of Pilsner Malt 85.1% (I used Gladfield)
500g / 1 lb 1.6 oz of Munich 1 10.6% (I used Weyerman)
200g / 7 oz of Acidulated Malt 4.3% (I used BestMalz)

I used RO water and salts to get to the Lager profile in Beersmith

20L / 5.28G Strike water @71c/160F for a mash target of 67c/152.6F for 90mins
Mash out @76c/152.6F for 30mins
14-15L / 3.8G Sparge @76c/152.6F

60g @60mins Czech Saaz (2.9%) 19.2 IBU
25g @15mins Czech Saaz (2.9%) 5.5 IBU*****
30g @Flameout Czech Saaz (2.9%) 8.9 IBU*****

***** This was No chill so although those numbers don't seem to add up close to 40 IBU they will there will be more from the 15min add then beersmith estimates, it will be closer to the 8.9 from the flameout, that takes it too near 40 IBU.

I used SafLager 34/70 - Fermentis (I'd use 3 or 4 packs, overkill maybe, but I like too for lagers, or do a starter)

I like to Pitch about 15c, what a few hours then drop to 10-12c for about 5 or 6 days then ramp up to 18c or the next week or so, but it really doesn't matter you can do it traditional for 2 or 3 weeks, or try and help it along a bit. You can of course use a more traditional liquid yeast.

Cheers!

Nice one. Yes seem to be the go with plenty of yeast in Lagers. The lager I made last year and entered in a comp, the judge said the yeast was strained and I used 2 packs. So once again I learnt something. I like the look of that recipe, might give it a go. Cheers.

Where's the tasting Vid Gash? Would love to see the end result.

I brewed your Australian Lager recipe and I am Impressed. Love the vids mate. Still haven't jumped on patreon but will after the chrissy rush is over. Expensive times.

That vid was released on the day I brewed it so it's only been in the keg about 2 weeks max. Trying to lager it, but it's tasty, will probably do a review later this week. Could be just a touch more bitter. Cheers and thanks heaps mate!

Makes sense mate. Thank you!

Yeah I thought the aus lager might want a touch more bitterness, I might try adjusting my water rather than adding hops though. It seemed a bit sweet.

I love messing with this stuff. Very fun.
Thanks again mate.

Brewing a familiar Dark Mild later today. (hint: Was the bastard tired? Or was he run over by a tire (tyre). No one really knows). One thing for sure. It will be a treat when done. Cheers!
